Erne Enterprise
Erne Enterprise, a community focused organisation was established in 1995 with the overall strategic aim to fully exploit the assets of its South Donegal catchment area in order to generate sustainable economic and social development, whilst ensuring the conservation and protection of the natural and built environment.
The geographical catchment of the company encompasses the towns and villages of Rossnowlgh, Cashelard, Creevy, Ballyshannon, Bundoran, Kinlough and Belleek.
The company is involved in many projects covering the following sectors; Infrastructure, Community Development, Social & Unemployed, Industry, Arts & Culture and Tourism.
The Head Office of Erne Enterprise is located at the Lakeside Centre in Ballyshannon overlooking Assaroe Lake. As well as the administration functions the Lakeside Centre is the base for the National Watersports Training Centre and on-site is the Lakeside Caravan & Camping Park a four star rated touring site, complete with environmentally friendly playpark.
With the valued support of Ballyshannon Town Council, Bundoran Town Council and Donegal County Council the company has been able to advance and complete many projects and initiatives.
The company acknowledges the role of funders and agencies such as Donegal Local Development Company, FAS and Peace & Reconciliation has been key to the delivery of many of these projects.
In partnership with Bundoran Town Council a Tourism Officer and an Assistant are employed. A Five Year Work Programme for the tourism development and marketing of the Donegal Bay area is now well underway.
The Tourism Section have produced walking and angling guides, secured funding for festivals and operate the Ballyshannon Tourist Information Point.
